The above map shows you the community areas of the city of Chicago along with the locations of sexual assault incidents. A hot spot analysis (look in legend to isolate) demonstrates where a statistically significant number of incidents have occurred, i.e. a higher number of incidents in relation to the surrounding area. The map shows that there are a higher number of incidents for sexual assault within the downtown area and west of downtown in the communities of North Lawndale, East Garfield Park, and West Garfield Park. This information can not only be used to locate where incidents occur at a higher rate but can also be used by those programs and organizations looking to decrease these numbers as they can target their services to these locations.
