Data driven pages allow an individual to create a series of layout pages from a single map document. Utilizing this useful technique, the map creator simply has to configure an index layer and all subsequent pages will be automatically created from the source layout.  It is important to note that each map will highlight different data based on the original index layer.  This saves the individual tons of time and energy in avoiding the hassle of creating each map individually!
