Interfaith at DePaul

Inspired by the goal of seeing interfaith dialogue flourish and exploring the differences between faith traditions on campus, the idea of a Student Interfaith Council was born over a year ago in the fall of 2005. With much thought and planning, the first Student Interfaith Council Meeting was held a year later in the fall of 2006.

In continually upholding DePaul University’s tradition of diversity, the Student Interfaith Council is comprised of representatives from eight Student Religious Organizations (SROs). Also, there are, as part of the Student Interfaith Council, ex-officio members who work for University Ministry. From the mebership there are three student interfaith scholars who serve as leaders of DePaul’s Interfaith Council and act as representatives of the council. The SRO’s represent Catholic, Protestant, Islamic, and Judaic faiths.

The Student Interfaith Council gives a voice to students and already has become much more than that through interfaith initiatives that all DePaul students can experience. As representatives, the Interfaith Council is devoted to the creation of partnerships between our organizations and cultivating understanding, cooperation, and dialogue among the many traditions of faith at DePaul University.
