Robert L. Manuel, President
Over the past year, we came together as a community to imagine our possibilities and ultimately to design DePaul’s future. More than 3,000 voices collaborated in identifying initiatives that are meant to serve as guideposts for our path forward through the Designing DePaul framework. Among those is our effort to enhance our approach to interdisciplinary research through collaboration and communication; expanding existing capabilities; and reimagining how higher education is delivered in the modern age. This year’s Innovation Day will focus on two important trends facing our society: Innovation and Social Good. Together, we will connect, collaborate, and create new ideas and approaches to solve existing problems that bring social impact in partnership with the DePaul community. Thank you for being part of this meaningful work.
Salma Ghanem, Provost
Members of the DePaul community share a common goal and that is to change the world we live in to the world it should be. Harnessing the power of innovation for social good is not only what motivates us but has a lasting impact on our and future generations. Our Fifth Innovation Day is an opportunity to share, witness, inspire, collaborate so that we find additional ways to solve our societal problems with a special focus on old and new issues including poverty, environmental sustainability and artificial intelligence. These pressing issues emerged through the Designing DePaul process which involved participation by many of you. Thank you for all that you do and for your work in making our world a better place.
Organizing Committee
It is with the greatest pleasure that we welcome you to the Fifth Annual DePaul Innovation Day. We hope that you will find the meeting informative and helpful in the following ways: sharing ideas and best practices for innovations and collaborations, learning about new initiatives, networking and community building.
This year’s annual celebration focuses on two of the most important trends facing our society, Innovation and Social Good, while exploring new ideas and approaches to solve existing problems. Both trends are important, but their intersection is likely the most powerful dynamic for change. The intersection of these two trends of innovation and social good is where DePaul can play a transformative role. We are a Vincentian university whose faculty, staff, and students can bring new ideas to the world around us. Innovation Day 2024 will bring the DePaul community together to connect, collaborate, and create innovative strategies addressing important issues centered on poverty, sustainability, and social computing. Please join us for an inspirational day featuring keynote presentations, panel discussions, the Innovation Showcase, and opportunities to engage with our colleagues.
We wish to thank the presenters and staff for all the hard work to make the 2024 DePaul Innovation Day a success. We especially wish to thank Provost Salma Ghanem for all her advice, encouragement, and shared vision for innovation at DePaul. We also thank the Office of University Events for the support in streamlining the meeting logistics.
Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can help make this meeting even more successful and productive.
Sincerely, The Innovation Day Organizing Committee
