Presentation Title: The Power of Cross-institutional Alliances

Presentation Description: Cross-institutional alliances can allow an organization to acquire capability faster and at lower cost, increase its reputational foot-print and/or reach into new areas geographically or thematically.  However, forming and sustaining alliances can be as much a tradecraft as an art.  In an academic environment, one can think of alliances that touch education/pedagogy, inquiry/research, and/or operations.  Towards this end, I plan to share my perspective on what allowed me to form educational and research alliances that succeed (and failed) touching upon the purpose of the alliances, their unique characteristics and the associated risks that were managed well, or not.
