Research Study Participant Opportunity

Dear Potential Participate,

Our names are Dr. Ann Melvin and Dr. Rosanne Nunnery. We are core faculty at Capella University in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. We are completing a research student titled: Counselors-in-training attitudes of clients diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) has approved this study.

I am recruiting potential participates who are currently enrolled in a CACREP accredited master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program (CMHC). Counselors will need to be currently enrolled in a CMHC degree program. Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary. There are no perceived benefits or risks for participating in the study. However, your responses will help me understand the perceptions of working with clients diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

If you choose to participate in the study, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire. The questionnaire will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide selected information about yourself; however, you will not be asked to provide your name. All data are anonymous and will be located on a secure server.

Attached is the Informed Consent Form, which must be reviewed and signed prior to participation.

By participating in the study, you are giving this researcher permission to use your responses for the research study only. You can access the questionnaire at the following secure web address:

Wellness Wednesday

Today’s wellness tip is about fostering empowerment amidst experiences of collective or vicarious trauma.

  1. Turn off the news when needed – staying informed does not have to mean re-traumatizing yourself or sharing traumatizing content
  2. Move your body in an effort to stay present and grounded
  3. Find a safe space to experience and sit with emotions
  4. Connect with others who empathize, validate, and are committed to healing
