This can be a simple icebreaker or a deeper exploration of VIA themes, depending on the questions.
Have participants stand in two lines, with the lines facing each other so each person has a partner. Pose a question and have the partners discuss for two minutes (or so). When the time is up, have one of the lines shift over so each person has a new partner. Ask a new question. Continue the rotation.
Possible questions:
- What compels you to do service? What do you hope to accomplish, and how do you hope to grow?
- What are some people, places, objects, and/or moments when you feel most comfortable, most alive, or most at home?
- What images come to mind when you think of the word “awareness”? How might it be important when serving others?
- Or: dialogue, solidarity, community, Vincentian, justice, liberation…
