What you need:
- Paper
- Writing utensils
Purpose: ThisĀ adaptable icebreaker can be used during multiple stages of the group formation process. It is a way to learn about different parts of the lives of those in your group and to see how well the group knows one another.
Activity: Ask your group a question you would like them to answer. For example: Something no one knows about them, what they got out of a certain activity, their hopes and dreams, how they are feeling currently, etc. Hand out pieces of paper and tell them to write their responses. Ensure that you give them enough time to reflect. Gather up the pieces of paper and read the responses out loud to the group. Invite the group to guess who wrote each response. Allow for enough time for the writer to give a brief explanation of why they wrote what they did. Continue until everyone in the group has gone.
