Vincentian Personalism, Dignity, and Building a Humane World

“Together we will build a humane world.”

Who or what comes to your mind when you think of building a humane world?

Vincentian Personalism, Dignity, & Building a Humane World

Vincentian personalism is about dignity – especially the dignity of all those who have their dignity endangered.

Vincentianism is all about building a humane world, a world that acknowledges everyone’s dignity.  The dignity of humane treatment, eating, studying, working, participation in society, access to work… St. Vincent’s life was all about working to achieve this for all. He sought the homeless children to provide them shelter…

Through his words and the words and theories you read at DePaul, we can find the connection between THOUGHT and ACTION.  It is not just about words, it is about action.  This is Vincentian personalism and building a humane world. You only read words – there are no speeches or quotes for building a humane world, there is only action.

Behind good actions usually you will find good theory and ideas.  This is what our education at DePaul is all about.

How can the life and words of St. Vincent and the fruits of our relationships at DePaul, our studies, and our relationships be put into ACTION?

This is our challenge… because this is the heritage that we received from St. Vincent.
