Two Minutes in the Hot Seat

Purpose:

This can be a great get-to-know-you icebreaker, but also can work really well later in a group’s development to dive a little deeper.

Activity:

One person is chosen to be in the “hot seat.” For 2 minutes, everyone in the group asks the person in the “hot seat” questions about themselves (varying in content and depth) and the person answers. After 2 minutes, the person in the “hot seat” chooses someone else in the group to be in the “hot seat” and the process repeats itself until everyone in the group has been in the “hot seat.”


Sample hot seat questions:

  • If you were stranded on an island, what 3 things would you want with you?
  • What is one problem in the world that you would fix?
  • If you were enclosed/trapped in some type of food, that you had to eat yourself out of, what would it be?
  • Name one physical trait you think represents you (whenever people think of this thing, they think of you)
  • If you were to be found in the desert, what kind of animal would you ride on top of?
  • Who’s your celebrity crush?
  • Candy or chocolate? Name one of your favorites
  • Do you naturally like being indoors more or outside?
  • What’s your major?
  • What is your go-to meal/snack when you’re sick?
  • Favorite movie?
  • Do you believe in signs or coincidences?
  • What was the last book you read?
  • Favorite season?
  • Do you have a sweet tooth?
  • What carnival ride would we most likely see you get on?
  • Which is your least favorite vegetable?
  • Least favorite fruit?
  • Fashion trend/style you dislike/hate?
  • What is your favorite Disney character?
  • Favorite color?
  • Name a family tradition/ritual your family completes during any holiday. (Certain food always at Christmas, specific outing on New Year’s…)
  • Dye your hair? What color?
  • Favorite board game?
  • If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would you go? Why?
  • Snorkeling or skydiving?
  • Favorite ice cream flavor? Do you stick to only one kind, or try them all?
  • How would you want your remains to be taken care of after you pass away?
  • Would you rather ride a horse or swim with dolphins?
  • What are some of your hobbies?
  • How do you deal with anger or any emotion (generally speaking)? How do you cope?
  • What are you scared of?
