Financial Aid

For a lot of students and their families, Financial Aid appears to be shrouded in mystery. But it’s not. Financial Aid is a broad term that refers to the variety of ways that students pay for college. In 2014, DePaul awarded $460 million to nearly 70% of our students. This financial aid comes in a variety of forms, including academic scholarships, need-based grants, loans, and work study.

We know it’s a lot to think about. But DePaul’s Office of Financial Aid has excellent resources and guides available to help students and families understand the financial aid process.

Visit the Office of Financial Aid’s page for information on how to make college affordable.

Higher education has become an opportunity that unfortunately not everyone is fortunate enough to partake in. Although having a degree is largely considered a necessary step in obtaining even just an entry-level job, for many this isn’t a realistic possibility.

Luckily, DePaul is no stranger to (what seems like) the impossibilities of paying for higher education. With various scholarships and grants available, suddenly, higher education became achievable for me.

As a DePaul Presidential Scholarship recipient, Grant recipient and Student Leader Scholarship recipient, I am so thankful for the financial support I have received from DePaul. That’s not to suggest that I don’t have my fair share of federal and private loans like others, but to acknowledge that DePaul’s scholarships and financial aid can really help in lowering tuition costs.

DePaul’s Office of Financial Aid shouldn’t intimidate you when applying. I navigated my tuition simply by exploring the website, then picking up the phone and asking what my options were.
