Sydney Chapman

By Victoria Williams
Sydney Chapman is a graduate of the DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Sydney was especially interested in the Film and Television program at DePaul because of its incredible reputation.
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety named DePaul a top film school because of the opportunity students have to work on real film and television sets in Chicago. Film and Television students like Sydney take classes and work on projects at DePaul’s 32,000 square foot professional production facility at Cinespace. The Film and Television curriculum, city of Chicago network, and the chance to work with the same facilities and equipment as professionals, made Sydney’s decision to move to Chicago worthwhile.
“DePaul supplied me with an infinite amount of resources and people to network with, which is fundamental in my career path. Film is not only built on creativity but also relationships.”

Getting involved on campus is something Sydney was always certain she would do. Passionate about building relationships in and outside of her career field, she put herself out there early and began to volunteer with many organizations on campus.

“DePaul supplied me with an infinite amount of resources and people to network with, which is fundamental in my career path. Film is not only built on creativity but also relationships.”

Sydney serves as the Secretary of the Black Student Union, a Board member on the Cultural Allocation Funding Board, a STARS Peer Mentor in the Office of Multicultural Student Success, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and is proud to be a Career Ambassador in the DePaul University Career Center.
Working in the Career Center is one of Sydney’s favorite parts about her on-campus involvement. As a Career Ambassador, she works to fulfill her mission of being a resource to students just like her: passionate about the film and television industry and ready to learn everything they can.
“Being a Career Ambassador is a fulfilling experience that I am so grateful for. The people working at the Career Center are such genuine and fun people, which I think comes through when we help students with their career concerns. We genuinely just love people and helping where we can.”
