Following the 2010 United States Census, there was 2,695,598 people living in Chicago. These 2.6 million people accounted for 1,194,337 households within city limits. Chicago’s population accounts for more than half of Illinois population. In 2000 Chicago saw a population density of 17,469 people per square mile, and this number in 2010 is slightly higher at 17,525. Chicago has been one of the nations most densely populated cities year after year.
Located within Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood on Chicago’s north side, Depaul’s Lincoln Park campus is home to the John T. Richardson Library. Constructed in 1992, the library features study areas, computers, printing, a technological help center, and Resource Center for Career Development. The Lincoln Park library supports students in programs from many colleges within Depaul. Materials for students within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Health, College of Education, School of Music, and the Theatre School are all stored at this library, while the library within Depaul’s Loop campus houses the College of Business, College of Communication, College of Computing and Digital Media, School for New Learning, and School of Public Service. John T. Richardson is home to over half a million physical books, and countless digitally available journals. From 2017-2018 John T. Richardson library saw about 700,000 visitors for the academic year.
