Summer’s Approaching

It gets harder to focus when the weather gets warmer and the sun stays out longer. Although I’m a fall person, I don’t mind a nice summer day here and there. My only issue is that my university is on a quarter system, so we’re in school a few weeks longer than the other universities.

I don’t mind that so much with our six-week long winter break, and the fact that we don’t go back to school until September, but watching everyone else finish school a month before us is tough.

These are a few things I do to stay calm and organized during this tempting time, but also make time to get my stuff done:

  1. Keeping track of deadlines: With five classes, writing jobs, radio, and an internship, deadlines are my life. It’s hard to keep in mind what day everything is due, but I always make it a point to check my calendar every morning to know what’s coming up. Sometimes I forget, but we’re all human.

  2. Setting aside a day for errands: We all have them. They’re unescapable. They take up time, but someone’s gotta get the groceries.

  3. Giving myself breaks: It’s okay to take breaks and to not be a robot on routine 24/7. As long as you get your work done, don’t guilt yourself out of a break. Take that break.

  4. Deciding what to do first: Tasks take time, decided what’s most important and start with that. Knocking out the most time-consuming tasks will give you more free time later on or more time to do the easy stuff.

Nordic Naturals

Ever since I was little, I’ve always taken vitamins. It started with an iron deficiency and using them to normalize my iron levels. After that, I took a one-a-day vitamin.

When I got more into health and fitness, my eating patterns changed and I was vegan for almost two years. With veganism, there are some important nutrients that you must take. A few of them were omega-3s, biotin, iron, and vitamin B12. These were some of the things my body was lacking when I cut out meat.

B12 was a big one for me because I could feel my body lacking it when I wouldn’t take the vitamin. My hands were often shaky and I felt lightheaded or dizzy. Everyone’s experience is different when they experience a deficiency, but this was mine, and I knew that I needed a vitamin.

I eventually went back to eating animal products because I felt like my body was craving eggs and poultry. I ate red meat before doing a vegan diet, but not that much. I mainly ate egg whites and chicken breast.

No matter what your diet is, vitamins are important and where they come from is important, too. Over-the-counter vitamins aren’t bad, but there are tons of organic brands out there on the market that are even better.

Nordic Naturals is a brand that has been around since the mid 1980s. The brand was started by Joar Opheim in Norway.

Some of the vitamins they offer include omega-3s, vitamin D3, CoQ10, vitamin C, melatonin, and more. There are also vitamins and gummies designed for children.

Flinstone vitamins were a hit for me back then, but with brands like Nordic Naturals, those might be a parent’s best interest for their child.

New Chapter

I’m someone who tries to take the healthiest route possible when it comes to medications and vitamins. I am also someone who struggles with anxiety. Both of those together make me leery of prescription medication.

I would never judge anyone of taking them, I just don’t know what my reaction would be and I don’t want to become dependent on them either. My anxiety has gotten better with age, but I am more of a hypochondriac if anything (I blame WebMD). I do think it’s good to have a little knowledge on health for safety purposes. I do tend to go above and beyond with it and worry too much.

Anyways, with products helping my anxiety, I like to keep it as natural as I could. Essential oils have gone a long way for me and I am a big supporter of them.

My brother takes omega-3s with his other vitamins. He’s seriously into weight lifting and he says they’re good for muscle recovery. He also enlightened me to the fact that they’re good for anxiety.

Before I went ahead and believed him, I did a little research and he turned out to be right. Omega-3s are good for anxiety and depression because the three types of fatty acids (ALA, EPA, and DHA) are the best for fighting depression and anxiety.

New Chapter is a line of non-GMO products with an abundance of supplements, omega-3s happen to be one of them.

This brand has something for everyone. Whether it’s multivitamins, workout recovery supplements, and hair and nail growth supplements, there’s something everyone could benefit from.

Everything is made naturally which is important for those trying to keep their supplements as natural as possible.
