My Favorite Skin Products

With a mixture of the drier months approaching and having slightly too many sweets during the holiday season, my skin tends to act up a ton. It’s nothing I can completely stop, especially because my skin is oily and I just can’t say no to sweets.

I have a handful of favorite and go-to products for months like these. Being someone with oily skin, I have to avoid oil-based products. Almost every moisturizer I’ve come across has oil in it. I try my best to use a combination of products. I don’t think I’m allergic to anything, but there’s still a risk of putting something on your skin that you’re not familiar with.

Here are a few of my favorite and go-to skin products. Honestly, I think these could work all season.

  1. Freeman’s Polishing Charcoal & Black Sugar Gel Mask & Scrub: I like this one because my skin feels smooth right after using it. The sugar exfoliates your skin and you can feel the product working as you use it. It’s usually not that expensive, I find it at my local grocery store.

2. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This product is on the pricier side, but I think it’s worth it. Back when I modeled, my agent recommended this stuff to clear up my T-zone (imagine being told you need to fix your “skin problem”). Anyways, I still use this product on a weekly, or even daily basis. All you do is apply it directly on a freshly squeezed zit (gross, I know) and it’ll dry it up overnight. Try not to overuse it because it leaves a small scab, but it works quickly.

  1. Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum: Can this brand sponsor me? Kidding, actually not kidding because I would love that. This acne serum prevents pimples from randomly forming. I use this in my T-zone, and it always leaves my skin feeling fresh and glowing.

Holidays, Food, and Eating Disorders

The holidays bring on a wide variety of emotions for everyone. Some love them and some can’t wait to get them over with. You’ll have your in-betweeners mixed in there, too. Whether you’re with your friends, family, or lucky enough to have both around, most people are in a cheerful mood. Holiday parties, meeting up with old friends, these events typically revolve around one thing: food.

Since late 2013, I struggled with anorexia and orthorexia. My time as a model contributed to that and it’s been a hazy few years trying to get myself to realize that no job is worth sacrificing your physical and mental health over.

I usually try to not get too deep into my personal life on any social platform, but I feel that this is acceptable. Read or skim as you please, or just close the tab.

At any time of the year, especially this one, be mindful of what you say to people. The smallest and most meaningless comments could push someone back to square one. There could be people around you struggling that you’re not aware of. If you’re concerned about someone, check on them, but don’t attack them with assumptions.

Up until September of this year, I decided I would try and stop restricting my calories so much, stop reading nutrition labels, stop obsessively measuring and weighing foods (and myself), stop getting mad at myself if I don’t make it to the gym, and to start calming down and visit with friends and family rather than making some excuse that I can’t see them just so I didn’t have to eat.

All in all, this got a little more personal than I intended. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy yourselves, and check on your people.

Integrative Therapeutics

Nutrition supplements are all over the place. Some are targeted towards specific diets, some are targeted towards specific health requirements, and some are just ones that people take daily to receive the benefits from a number of vitamins.

The difficult part is that people are often lost in the world of supplements. They see one advertisement on TV and they suddenly want that one. Celebrity endorsements could even be the reason people choose the supplements they take. Sometimes, it’s whatever’s on sale that catches their eye. When someone isn’t fully informed on a product, it’s easier for them to skim the back and purchase it without a second thought.

According to Natural Healthy Concepts, Integrative Therapeutics has been a leading manufacturer and distributor of science-based supplements for 35 years. The company is also family-owned to keep the connection between the company and its consumers as simple and wholesome as they can.

Personally, I feel better when I buy a product, especially something for my health, from a family-owned or a small business. I feel like they care more about their customers and their goal isn’t to make as many sales as possible, but it’s to ensure their customers that the product is safe and reliable. The company puts their products through advanced equipment to verify that it’s safe for public use.

There are several supplements, some are for gastrointestinal, neuroendocrine, metabolic, arthritis support, joint relief, diabetes, blood sugar, and diet pills. Their expansive selection has a supplement for everyone. With the amount of testing their supplements go through, there’s no reason to worry if they’re safe or not.

Enzymedica & Pet Wellbeing

The digestive system is one of the most important parts of your health. We don’t always treat our digestive system the best. Depending on foods we eat, sometimes we don’t get enough of everything we should, such as fiber.

Not getting enough fiber could lead to feeling blocked up. All bathroom-talk aside, your digestive system should be the last part of the body you should ignore.

Enzymedica, known as the “Enzyme Experts”, caters to everyone’s needs because they have a line of dietary supplements specifically for healthy digestion and metabolism.

On a specific diet? Intolerant to gluten? Don’t worry, these experts have you covered! They have a set of supplements called GlutenEase, specifically for those who cannot have gluten. Their DigestBasic supplements have a combination of all the major food groups.

These super supplements do more than just benefit your digestive system. They also support immune function, cardiovascular issues and reduce inflammation!

If your pet isn’t happy, you’re not happy. Our pet’s emotions rub off on us and the last thing anyone wants to see is their most loyal pal feeling under the weather. Turning to the vet could lead to skyrocketing medical bills and a number of stressful tests for pets. Expensive trips will leave you, your pet, and your wallet hurting.

Pet Wellbeing is an all-natural product made of plants and herbs that will help your pet feel like himself again. These plants and herbs are grown naturally in an environment that will assure the pet parent that they are wild-harvested and pure.

To assure any hesitant pet parents, all products are cleared with the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine Guidelines. Pet Wellbeing caters all their products to cats and dogs. The products are tested before becoming available for purchase to confirm that they are safe for pets.
