Thank you for participating in DePaul’s third annual Innovation Day. Today, you will hear from colleagues who had the spark of an idea and decided to act on it. We hope the day’s sessions leave you energized and enlightened. Connect with one another and get inspired. You never know where one idea can lead you, and we can’t wait to follow your progress

What distinguishes DePaul is that the Vincentian question of “What Must be Done” permeates every aspect of the university. The Third Innovation Day helps answer the question by connecting research and creative endeavors to societal impact, equity and inclusion. While the issues that St. Vincent DePaul dealt with over 400 years ago might be different than the issues we deal with today, the problems of today are by no means less pressing. DePaul is a university with a heart, a heart that connects with the society in which we live. The power of impact is enhanced through collaboration and the panels on convergent research and industry partners harnesses the power of collective impact.

A heartfelt welcome to all of our attendees and heartfelt thank you for all who collaborated for setting the tone once again for the new year.

Organizing Committee

It is with the greatest pleasure that we welcome you to the Third Annual DePaul Innovation Day. We hope that you will find the meeting informative and helpful in the following ways: sharing ideas and best practices for innovations and collaborations, learning about new initiatives, networking and community building.

Beyond an opportunity to learn about innovative initiatives at DePaul, the Innovation Day is designed to encourage more individuals to turn their ideas into projects. The President and the Provost will open the day with remarks, and the day will feature faculty presentations and panels that will highlight research and innovation projects focusing on equity and inclusion, social impact, and industry partnerships. New for this year is the Convergent Research Grant Competition. The Grant Competition finalists will present on their projects and the winners will be announced at the end of the Innovation Day.

We wish to thank the presenters and staff for all the hard work to make the 2022 DePaul Innovation Day a success. We especially wish to thank Provost Salma Ghanem for all her advice, encouragement, and shared vision for innovation at DePaul. We also thank the Office of Academic Events for the support in streamlining the meeting logistics.
Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can help make this meeting even more successful and productive.

Sincerely,
The Innovation Day Organizing Committee
