Our Alumni feature post this week highlights a 2019 graduate, Stephanie Latos. Stephanie grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and came to DePaul as a Finance major with a Spanish minor. During her time at DePaul, she was involved with DePaul Women in Business, where she was able to participate in the Harvard Women in Business Conference, and DSP. Stephanie was also involved with DePaul’s Pre-Law Club, where they would plan a large networking event each year, which was a very rewarding experience and fun way to network with other students outside of the business school.
During Stephanie’s Junior and Senior year, she worked at the Kellstadt Graduate School as a Student Assistant where she was able to interact with some of her favorite professors. Stephanie’s favorite memory at DePaul was working at Kellstadt because she was able to help and meet new students. As for the classes she took while at DePaul, Stephanie says the ones that helped her prepare the most for the finance world would have to be any of Professor Essenburg’s and Dave Dixon’s classes.
While at DePaul, Stephanie’s first internship was at Aon as a Risk Solutions Summer Intern. At Aon, she was exposed to the corporate environment where she was able to learn about corporate culture and client-facing deliverables. The next summer, Stephanie interned at JPMorgan Chase & Co. as a Commercial Banking Summer Analyst. After this internship, she was able to secure a full-time position with JPMorgan. Currently, she is in her first rotation in credit and her second rotation will be in January where she will expand her knowledge on the multinational sales side. Upon graduation, Stephanie believes that being aware of what is relevant to one’s career and to always be engaged in conversations is important going into the finance industry.
When giving advice for any current finance students, Stephanie suggests to not be afraid to speak up and step into your role. Stephanie also recommends to always be aware of what is going on in the world and to expand your internal and external network. Aside from finance, she also likes to play the piano, run, and cycle in her free time.
We wish you the best of luck, Stephanie!
