Watching DePaul Volleyball Live: DePaul vs St. John’s
Last weekend, while I was trying to balance both midterm preps and figuring out weekend plans, I saw the DePaul volleyball match on DEHUB. I decided to register for it just in case I wanted to hang out with my friend. I had never watched a volleyball game in person before, so I thought it would be a fun break from studying and a good chance to do something different on campus.
As soon as we entered McGrath Phillips Arena, the whole vibe felt really exciting. The crowd was loud, people were cheering from every direction, and the energy instantly made me forget about all the school stress. It felt so nice to socialize, sit among families, alumni and students, and just be in a space where everyone was enjoying the moment. Watching volleyball live was actually so interesting. The speed of the game surprised me. Every serve, every spike, and every long rally made the whole arena react together. You could really see how much communication goes into volleyball, how fast the players move, and how much teamwork it takes to score a single point.
I loved how everyone around us was cheering after every good play. Fans were clapping, the mascot was getting people excited, and the players were feeding off the energy. Being part of that crowd felt like ‘I am actually starting to fit in’. It was one of those moments where you realise that getting involved in campus sports is such a simple way to meet people, feel connected, and enjoy college outside of academics. I left the arena feeling refreshed, happy, and honestly more motivated.
This match reminded me that sometimes stepping away from assignments for a few hours can make you feel so much lighter. I am already browsing DEHUB again to see what game or event I can attend next!
