Take Advantage of Blue Demon Discounts
One of the best perks of being a DePaul student is the access to Blue Demon Discounts—an awesome perk that lets us enjoy some of the best spots in Chicago without breaking the bank. If you’re like me and love finding a good deal, you’re going to want to take advantage of these discounts. Recently, I took a little food tour around Lincoln Park and downtown to see just how much I could save while treating myself to some delicious eats. Here’s a rundown of my visits to Potbelly, Hello Jasmine, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams—all using my trusty DePaul student ID!
First stop: Potbelly Sandwich Shop. There’s tons of awesome restaurants down Lincoln Ave, but I went for the classic lunch. They have everything from healthy salads to yummy soups and, of course, deliciously toasted sandwiches. I went for the Mediterranean sandwich—a hearty combo of all-natural grilled chicken, feta, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, cucumbers, and their signature hot pepper hummus—and paired it with a cup of their deliciously creamy mac n cheese. With my DePaul student discount, I scored a great deal on a full meal, plus a free fountain drink, that kept me fueled for the rest of the day. All I had to do was show my ID at the register. If you sign up for an account, you can also get a bunch of deals like BOGO discounts and free birthday desserts. Potbelly’s laid-back vibe makes it a great place to grab a quick bite or catch up with friends between classes.
Next up was Hello Jasmine, a cute and cozy spot known for its Taiwanese snacks and delicious bubble tea. If you’re a boba lover like me, you’ll appreciate their wide menu of milk teas, fruit teas, and snacks. I went for the Mango Green Tea with extra pearls, and it was the perfect mix of sweet and fruity. Plus, the pearls were perfectly chewy. With my DePaul discount, I was able to get 10% off my order and they were also having a free boba topping special. It was a nice way to take a sunset stroll and get a little evening pick-me-up without spending a fortune. The best part? The friendly staff makes you feel right at home, so it’s a great place to hang out with friends or study between classes.
I saved the best for last: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, because who doesn’t need a little sweetness in their life? With multiple locations around Chicago, Jeni’s is known for its creative, ultra-creamy flavors made with high-quality ingredients. I opted for a scoop of the Double Dough (a Lonely Ghost collab!!!) and Sweet Cream Biscuits & Peach Jam, and they did not disappoint. The ice cream was smooth, the flavors were bold, and the waffle cone added that perfect crunch. Thanks to my DePaul ID, I got 15% off my order, making it all the more satisfying. If you haven’t been, this spot is definitely worth the visit for an after-class treat. I went to the Southport location, but there is also one in Wrigleyville, Magnificent Mile, and Old Town!
Using my Blue Demon Discounts at these spots was a fun & affordable way to explore Lincoln Park while indulging in some tasty treats. There are also a bunch of places that have Blue Demon Discounts around the Loop campus! Not only can you get deals on food, but also shopping, travel, technology and more.
As students, we’re often juggling tight schedules and tighter budgets, so these discounts are a lifesaver when it comes to enjoying what Chicago has to offer without feeling guilty about spending too much. Whether you’re in the mood for some decadent ice cream, refreshing boba, or a hearty sandwich, your DePaul ID is your golden ticket to some fantastic deals!
