Student Club Highlight: Euchre Club
Euchre is a four player card game played largely in the midwest. I learned to play when I was in middle school, and I was so excited when I found out that there is a club for it here at DePaul. I think the fact that there is a club for a random card game like euchre with a good amount of people who come every week speaks to the awesome variety of people that are at DePaul. You can truly find a community of people who will support and engage with you in essentially any interest or hobby you have.
I also would like to use euchre club as an example of the openness of DePaul students. I did not join the club until this year, my sophomore year, and they welcomed me with open arms. One thing that I was worried about when coming to college was the idea that you have everything figured out and set by your freshman year, or even the first few months of freshman year. This is completely not the case and especially not at DePaul. I have joined and left multiple clubs so far, and I imagine that I will continue to do that until I graduate. I also have made and lost a lot of friends. It may seem like people you see on social media and your friends at other schools all have everything figured out, but the truth is that we are all just trying to figure it out as we go. That’s why I think the clubs at DePaul are so great. Each one that I have been to and been a part of has given me a great experience and opened me up to countless new opportunities socially.
Overall, the euchre club is just an awesome time all around and is a great representation of the fun communities that are at DePaul University.
