Prepping for Senior Year

Going into my senior year here at DePaul, I have a lot to look forward to.  DePaul did a great job with handling the pandemic, ensuring that student involvement could be kept alive anywhere it was able to.  But this year, I feel like we are back into the swing of things and I have so many experiences that I missed that just weren’t possible due to the pandemic.

Firstly, I am excited to meet more people this year and look forward to getting closer with the friends I have, but haven’t been able to fully connect with yet.  I have a new roommate this year, and we already signed up to do intramural volleyball together this quarter.  We have also started to go to the Ray Meyer Fitness Center together and met a bunch of great people in the different workout classes we have been trying out.

DePaul’s Welcome Week was just a glimpse of activities that go on throughout the year on campus.  I am looking forward to DePaul Night at the Sox game in October, basketball games at Wintrust Arena in the winter, and FEST in the spring!  The Ray often holds workshops, and the DePaul Activities Board holds “DePaul After Dark” events throughout the quarter.  My friends and I always attend these events because when else can you roller skate or mini golf for free while meeting new people and expanding your circle?

Chicago always has an event going on, and if there isn’t, there is plenty of opportunity to make your own!  I love walking around the city and photographing iconic Chicago moments like the Green River, Chicagohenge, and the Air and Water show.  My friends and I also like to make our own activities like picnics at the lakefront, or a quick road trip to the Indiana Sand Dunes.

Taking full advantage of all the resources that I am provided with through DePaul and experiencing the city in the highest capacity is the thing I am most excited for this year.  And of course, graduation!
