As I mentioned previously, I had the great opportunity to take over the famous Instagram account @iamdepaul! Here, students from this university get a chance to have access to this account for a week and share a six-part slice of life at DePaul.

I took over the account from August 13th to 18th and had a blast helping people get to know me better. I have gone into detail about what I posted in my previous post so please read pt.1 of this post here: CLICK!

For my second to last day, I decided to conduct a Q&A session where I asked people for any questions they had – either about my journey at DePaul or theirs. I received questions from many such as current students to prospective students looking into DePaul.

I thought that I should share some of the questions I received here in this blog to help people who have similar questions but did not have the chance to view my stories that day.

 1. How manageable is it for one to rebound after struggling with assignments at DePaul?

In my experience, it is very much possible. Just be transparent with your professors. Every professor I have had till now was able to understand if I couldn’t finish an assignment on time or gave me an extension if I needed it.

They want you to succeed, so be honest with them! Just try not to take them for granted 🙂

 2. Are blue bucks worth investing in? And what is the value of 1 blue buck?

If you are someone like me who lived in LPC and had to commute between both campuses every day, then yes for sure. It allows you to get a lot of snacks from the on-campus supermarket like ETC and even can be used to get coffee or food.

I was enrolled in the “DePaul Weekly-12” plan which granted me 450 blue bucks per quarter.

Judging by the 2024-25 Meal Plan Options for commuters, I’m assuming that 1 blue buck = $1 at DePaul.

3. How to get an on-campus job?

Click the link I’ve included here and sign in on the campus job board. They list any available jobs there and apply by including your Resume and Cover Letter. The departments will email you if you make it to the interview round and get back to you again if you get the job.

Good luck!

 4. How can I find students of the same major as mine? Mine is Cybersecurity

The best way is to network with people in your major-required classes. They are most likely to be majoring in the same field. After doing a quick search, I also found @wicys.depaul, which is a group specifically for students interested in cybersecurity.

5. I’m about to transfer to DePaul and I’m really nervous about meeting people, any tips?

You are going to find very cool people do not worry! You will have to put yourself out there a bit first tho.

One of the first things you’ll do at DePaul is attend Orientation. That is where you can start making friends in itself. Aside from that, joining clubs and teams is a great way to get involved with others on campus.

Besides these, there were also other questions regarding my journey that people took an interest in. Overall, I was very happy with the amount and variety of responses I got on my takeover, and am happy to know that my insight helped people. I hope even you as a reader were able to take something positive away from this blog! See you next week 🙂
