Overview of DePaul’s Loop Campus Library

The Loop Campus Library is a great resource for DePaul University students, especially those who spend a lot of time in the Loop. Typically, these are commuter students or any student whose major is within one of the schools at DePaul that is located in the loop like Business or Computing and Digital Media. It’s a great spot for utilizing a ton of different resources to complete your assignments, or just to study for a few hours between classes.

DePaul prides itself on having every resource offered on the Lincoln Park Campus available to students within the Loop Campus as well. This includes the services that are offered at the John T. Richardson Library on the Lincoln Park Campus. The Loop Library might be smaller in terms of square feet, but it has everything you could need as a DePaul student. There is ample study space, and you can choose from options like group study tables to have conversations with friends, desks with privacy walls to really focus, or even totally private reserved study rooms. I have found that I like a little bit of ambient conversation noise, so I tend to stick to the tables near the group study area. The Loop Library also has these cool solo-study booths where you essentially enter a soundproof box with a desk and you can fully limit any distractions.

As I mentioned, DePaul makes sure that all services that they offer at the Lincoln Park Library are available on the Loop Campus as well. Within the Loop Library, there is both a Windows PC lab and a Mac Lab. Additionally, there are a ton of different printers available and it’s really helpful if you need to print something between classes and don’t want to go all the way back to Lincoln Park. As the library on the Lincoln Park Campus mainly houses literature related to the colleges at DePaul that are located there, the Loop Library houses literature related to the colleges that are located in the loop like CDM and Business. Additionally, the casual reading and media sections are continued from Lincoln Park to the Loop as well. Also included is a research help center, again focusing on research for majors that are located within DePaul’s Loop Campus schools.

Overall, the Loop Library is unsurprisingly a great resource for DePaul students, but can be especially useful to those who spend a significant amount of time in the Loop. Having access to all of the capabilities of a state-of-the-art university library while being in the middle of downtown Chicago is something that we as students definitely cannot take for granted. The Loop Library provides a great environment to enhance your DePaul University Loop Campus experience.
