New Things I Have Learned While Social Distancing

This pandemic has been a unique experience and a difficult transition. Moving everything in my life into a virtual space has been tricky, but I’ve found a way to make it work. During this past month, I’ve also realized that I now have a lot of free time.  Keeping myself busy with new hobbies has been my way of coping with all of the madness going on in our world. It’s totally okay to take this time for yourself and relax, but in my case, distractions help me stay positive. So in case you’re in need of some ideas, here are a few new skills I have learned over the past month!

Watercolor Painting

This is something that I’ve wanted to learn for a long time but have never had the time to. I bought some inexpensive paints off of Amazon and started watching YouTube videos on how to paint some trees. The good thing about using watercolors is that it’s very beginner friendly because you can wipe away your mistakes with a paper towel. I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants an easy creative outlet! 🙂

Cooking

A few years ago, I decided to try a vegetarian diet. I did all the research and had a list of recipes but school and work kept me busy. With all of this free time on my hands, I decided to try out all of the vegetarian dishes that I saved on my Pinterest board. It’s been a good experience so far! I can now say that I’ve been feeding myself properly and have been finding new sources of protein.

Journaling

Ever since this pandemic started, I began journaling consistently. I discovered bullet journaling and I really like coming up with new spreads every week. Writing things down has been really helpful for my mental health and it’s something I suggest everyone try at least once.
