My Favourite Professors at DePaul 2/3 (Mathematics edition)

"Best Math Professors @DePaul"

2. Edward Burkard

I am currently taking Professor Burkurd’s MAT 220 – Applied linear algebra. I like the way he is always able to answer any questions students have in class, and if someone asks him to repeat a concept while he is lecturing, he is happy to do so. It is obvious that he prioritises his students understanding everything thoroughly.

3. Karl Liechty

I really like the way Professor Liechty teaches his class. I appreciate the fact that the class does not contain a midterm, but rather bi-weekly mini tests. These help his students get used to new concepts in small bites. This then helps them when it is the final season, as then they are not sitting the night before the exam with no clue of how to cram 10 weeks’ worth of concepts.

As a current Data Science student at DePaul University, I have to take a bunch of mathematics classes in order to build my statistical and mathematical skills. Known as one of the most dreaded subjects overall, I think it is important to find great professors to help digest difficult concepts, which require a lot of hard work inside and outside of the classroom to understand everything.

Here are some of the best professors I have taken classes with/ am currently taking classes with, who deserve all the praise they get.

1. Wei Li

I thoroughly enjoy Professor Li’s method of teaching, explaining and the way her classes are structured. I took Calculus 2 and 3 with her, and I must say, these were two of my favourite classes I have taken at DePaul, despite never having liked Calculus before college.

An honorary mention goes to Professor Javid Validashti, whom I have mentioned in part 1 of this series. CLICK HERE TO READ.

In my opinion, it is very hard to change one’s opinion once it is set in place, however, these professors are working every day successfully to help students at DePaul let go of the stigma that Mathematics is a scary and a hard-to-understand field.
