How to Spend Valentine’s Day in Chicago
Valentine’s Day in Chicago is one of my favorite times of the year, and I love planning a day that’s packed with romance, culture, and amazing food. Whether you’re planning a special date or treating yourself to some quality “me” time, the Windy City offers so many memorable experiences. This is how I would spend my Valentine’s Day this year:
I’d like to start my day with a relaxed brunch at Cafe Cremerie. This spot has become a go-to for me with its artisanal pastries, cute interior, and perfectly brewed coffee. The atmosphere is both trendy and cozy—a great way to set a celebratory tone for the day ahead. It’s the kind of place where you can linger over a latte and savor every bite.

After brunch, I always take a leisurely stroll along the Chicago Riverwalk. There’s something truly magical about walking beside the river in winter. The crisp air, the shimmer of the city lights on the water, and the iconic skyline all combine to create a setting that feels both vibrant and intimate. It’s the perfect spot for deep conversations or simply soaking in the beauty of Chicago.
In the afternoon, I like to immerse myself in a bit of culture by visiting the Art Institute of Chicago. The museum’s incredible collection—from timeless Impressionist masterpieces to innovative modern art—never fails to inspire me. Wandering through the galleries, you can almost forget the winter chill outside as you lose yourself in art and history.

As evening approaches, it’s time to elevate the romance with a special dinner. RPM Italian in River North is my top pick for Valentine’s Day. The restaurant’s sleek modern décor and intimate ambiance make it an ideal setting for a memorable meal. I always find myself drawn to their signature pasta dishes—whether it’s the decadence of Truffle-Infused Bucatini or a classic Marinara that’s been perfected with a gourmet twist.
After such a delicious dinner, cap off your night with a movie at an AMC Theater. Here’s a little insider tip: DePaul offers $10 movie tickets for AMC theaters, and you can grab these discounted tickets at the Student Center. It’s a fantastic way to round off your evening with a cozy film—either at the theater for that big-screen experience or by creating your own intimate movie night at home with gourmet popcorn and a great flick.
No matter how you choose to spend it, Valentine’s Day in Chicago is filled with opportunities to create lasting memories. Enjoy every moment and celebrate the love—whether it’s with someone special or through a day devoted entirely to you.
