New at DePaul? Me too!
In my opinion, one of the easiest and fastest ways to connect with DePaul and the students here is to go enjoy the game days! Whether it is at the Wish Field or the Sullivan Athletic Center, you are guaranteed to have a great time with your friends (or make new ones!). This helped me obtain a sense of community and overall trust when I was new to the campus, even though I didn’t know any players yet. I was overwhelmed with all the moving and settling in, and this was a fun way to de-stress!
The left side of the sitting area was dominated by the colour blue at Wish Field, cheering loudly for our demons. This game was very neck-and-neck. With every kick, there was an increment in either the intrigue, distress or overall interest in the outcome. By the time the whistle blew for half-time, the scoreboard read 1:1. The anxiety was persistent with every tick of the clock as the second half began. Both teams tried to push themselves to the fullest, as they were getting more physically tired. And then…
GOAL!
2:1 for DePaul. The blue demons walked out victorious, enjoying the seed of their efforts. The audience roared with happiness. It added an extra layer of sweetness to my day which I will never forget.
The next game I engaged in was the female volleyball game against UIC. The Blue Demons again dominated with a satisfying win of 3:1.
The overall vibe which gets built with the students present with you is very wholesome, and the low-risk nature of the event leaves very little to lose. And the best part of it all? The tickets for the students are sold for a very low price of 0.00 USD! Make sure to check the date for the next game day using your “DeHub” application.
See you there!
