DePaul Student Activities: Visiting the Farmer’s Market!
There were a lot of stalls where people displayed beautiful quality products. They had everything from several types of home-baked bread to a whole stall of handmade cotton goods. I was mesmerised, to say the least. One of the stalls which truly sucked me in was a tiny flower market. Fresh, beautiful and lush flowers such as different coloured roses and daisies were just calling me over, and upon glancing at them I knew just how great they were taken care of. All petals were velvety, and the colors were astonishingly vibrant.
That is the level of quality you should expect when you go to a farmer’s market in Chicago. The concept is simple yet very effective. The whole point of investing in these products over one which can be bought from famous stores is to help support local people with their businesses more directly. This is a great way of giving back to the community you are a part of.
Throughout the warm months, there are multiple farmers’ markets in different neighbourhoods of Chicago, and I would highly recommend my reader to go and take a look at them! Be a part of Chicago by joining our DePaul community!
Today I enjoyed going to my first ever Farmer’s Market in Chicago! One of the most beautiful things about living in a vibrant and lively city is how it is very much possible for you to leave your room to complete tasks and then spend the day immersed in the town doing something completely different! Today I went to West Melrose Street and North Broadway to pick up a chair I bought from the Facebook marketplace. That is when I stumbled upon the Nettelhorst French market! One thing was for sure, I was going to enjoy it a lot!
Aside from that, there was also a stall selling different kinds of homemade candles. I took one whiff of a vanilla-scented one, and I felt like I was teleported straight to utopia! The actual vegetable market also stood out to me due to the bright and juicy-looking veggies. For once, I was seriously tempted and excited to eat them. What I liked about them specifically was their mushroom collection. There were many types and shapes which made me want to try at least one of these fungal friends.
