DIY Pizza & Sip (Chicago) – My experience

Then we were asked to head over to the cooking station. Everyone got a ball of pizza dough and a small cup of elite-quality mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. This is when the expert chef at Napolita Pizzeria and Wine Bar started informing us of basic yet interesting fun facts about making pizzas. That restaurant even has a special oven which allows Neapolitan pizza to bake within a minute or two.
The expertise and knowledge with which the chef was speaking reassured us that this was going to be a very fun experience.

Then, it was a waiting game for a couple of minutes. Soon, they brought all of our cooked pizzas out for us to sit and enjoy.
We sat there and ate our dinner while sipping on our drinks and enjoying the view of Millennium Park’s ice rink.
Overall, this was a great experience, and despite the high ticket costs, I think it was a good event to attend once in a lifetime. I had a great time!
One night, while scrolling away on Instagram, I came across an advertisement for a DIY pizza-making class. Intrigued, my boyfriend and I got two tickets for the 13th of January. Starting at $59 and located in the Millennium Hall – the heart of Chicago, we were excited, to say the least.
Once we got there, the first thing they did was validate our tickets and hand us two coupons for drinks of our choice. Both being under 21, we picked a refreshing mango-flavoured lemonade to sip as we made our dinner.

This is when the chef started demonstrating how we need to stretch our dough correctly. Unfortunately, this was a bit challenging for me due to my long nails. I was unintentionally poking my dough which was a bit annoying at times, but soon I found a technique which allowed me to work seamlessly.
Next, we used all the tomato sauce given on our pizza and spread it evenly over the whole pizza. There were a lot of toppings to pick from, such as mushrooms, onions, Soppressata and more. As I am a vegetarian, I settled for mushrooms, onions and mozzarella cheese.
A tip the chef gave us was how we should tend to always pre-cook topping ingredients such as mushrooms or meat before baking a Neapolitan pizza, as it allows for a richer taste.
