DePaul Ugly Sweater Party

The Ugly Sweater Party is one of my personal favorite DePaul University traditions. It happens every year at the end of Fall Quarter and it’s an awesome time! In my experience, the Ugly Sweater Party is one of the better attended events on campus, largely because the first 1,250 people who check in get a free crewneck sweatshirt with the DePaul ugly sweater design. On top of that, there’s free seasonal food and activities for students to participate in. Some organizations also do tabling at the event, and this year I worked at the DemonTHON table and we made holiday cards to give to the kids at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Although I was at the DemonTHON table for the majority of the event, I did walk around a little bit myself and I talked with a few of my friends who got the full experience and they really enjoyed it! It’s held in the Quad and the university does a great job of keeping everything spread out so that you can walk around and see everything by the time you get back to the entrance. This year the main food option was caramel apples and they had a ton of different toppings and things you could add on. There was also a ride, an inflatable obstacle course, and an inflatable snow globe to take pictures in. They had a stuff-a-plush station to make your own stuffed animal that came with a little DePaul t-shirt for it to wear. DIBS was also in his Santa costume, which is definitely a rare sight to see.

These types of events are part of what makes being a student at DePaul so fun, and even if you only want to stop by for a few minutes they offer a fun experience and a good opportunity to meet fellow students.
