DePaul Tradition: Crafternoon in the Loop
A DePaul classic in the Loop is Crafternoons at the Loop Life Office. It is one of my favorite events. First off it’s in the Loop Life Office, which has some of the best student workers, along with cozy seating and chill music. Second, it’s a craft activity.
About every other week they host crafternoons, and it is such a nice break. I usually go between classes and it allows me to take a break from business and get artsy. Especially as a commuter, I find having balance in my day to day schedule really helps, otherwise it’s all work and travel. The Loop Life Office is almost always offering some activity to warrant a little break.
This time it was paper flowers! You had the opportunity to turn tissue papers into colorful flowers. They have done other things in the past, like pot painting, pumpkin decorating and diamond dot key chains. The variety is awesome. The best part is that all you need to do is show up and they have it all ready to go. I usually go with friends, so we have a nice little chat break and get to create something.
If you are ever in the Loop, it is definitely a must visit office. Located on the first floor, you can’t even miss it! They always have something going on, and who doesn’t love a good craft to break up classes?
