DePaul Lincoln Park Campus Coffee Crawl

Whether you want to take on the challenge of going to all the best coffee spots near DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus in one day, or you just need a few recommendations for a new go-to spot, this list is for you. I am a current junior and I’ve spent some time checking out the spots near campus, so you can trust this list. Hopefully your new favorite is one of these five!

1. The Bean (on-campus)

I can’t not mention The Bean for this, and it will be perfect for a starting location. This is the on-campus choice for DePaul students, and the location I am most familiar with is in the Schmitt Academic Center (SAC), but there is also one located in the Ray Meyer Fitness Center. You can trust The Bean for a solid coffee, and its proximity to your classes cannot be beat. You can also use your meal plan dollars which is a huge plus.

2. Olor Coffee Bar

Moving on, we are heading to Olor Coffee Bar. This one is not much further from campus being that it is directly across the street from the St. Vincent de Paul Church, making it effectively on-campus. Another solid and reliable spot, albeit a little more bougie, this one is a favorite of many people who want a great coffee and a nice study spot that is not their usual on-campus go-to but isn’t too far away either. Highly recommend!

3. Philz

This was the one I got recommended the most out of any coffee shop near DePaul before I tried it. Located on Lincoln Ave., it’s about a 7 minute walk from campus (5 if you’re quick like me) and it is my personal favorite. They have a ton of different types of coffee that they make, and you can really get crazy with the customization. I never go in with any plan and always let the menu speak to me when I decide what to order. I would highly recommend this one as well!

4. Bourgeois Pig

Moving further northwest on Lincoln Ave. and going about one block east on Fullerton, we arrive at Bourgeois Pig. I would say that this is the overall DePaul favorite on this list as I have heard the most people talk about it. I would also say that this one has the coolest vibe, the building is super cool and all of the decorations are very unique and set up in a fun way. It’s also open late and serves alcoholic drinks and food options later in the day if you’re interested. Another great option!

5. The Bagelers Coffeehouse

Our final stop, Bagelers Coffeehouse, is further down Lincoln Ave. past Fullerton. This is my recommendation if you are looking to grab breakfast or lunch with your coffee. As you can imagine, the main option here is bagels, and they are phenomenal. That’s also not to say the coffee isn’t good either, because it is. In my mind, this one is the all around winner for overall experience. Not too far from campus, with a nice vibe and good food and drinks.

Well, hopefully you were able to gain something from this coffee crawl list. There are definitely more great spots close to campus for you to explore, but to me these are the most notable. I am wishing you the best of luck on your coffee search, and I hope to see you on campus someday!
