Chicago Summer Days at Montrose Beach
While summers get busy between work, sleep, and more work, there is always time for a beach day! My favorite place in Chicago to enjoy a hot and sunny day is at Montrose Beach. I love to set up a picnic, play some music, tan, and swim in Lake Michigan. It is the epitome of summer vibes and a perfect escape from everyday life- all within the bounds of Chicago!
I have not been going outside as much as I have wanted to so going to Montrose was a great opportunity to just have fun and bask in the Chicago summer air! I packed the essentials: sandals, a beach blanket, some lemonade, and sunscreen. Then I hopped on the bus, and was on the shore! Even going in the afternoon is still plenty of time to unwind and get some sun in!
North Avenue Beach is technically closer to DePaul’s campus, but I personally think that it is worth the trip to check out other spots in different neighborhoods. Montrose Beach is always full of families enjoying the beach- you get wafts of fresh barbeques all along the shore. There is a small stand near the entrance of the beach with fresh cut fruit, or if you are looking for something substantial, the Dock at Montrose Beach is a great restaurant to check out!
Regardless of what food path you take or beach you choose, spending a day by the lake is unparalleled. It is sure to revive your energy, happiness, and can be a free way to cool off and get a nice swim in! Nothing can beat being able to look out into the lakefront and at the city at the same time. Make sure to check out Chicago beaches in the summertime- they are worth a visit and might even feel like home.
