Checking out Concerts at Lincoln Hall!

Ava Maybe opener band for QOC performs at Lincoln Hall in Chicago

Summer in Chicago means peak concert season! This year, one of my favorite bands, Quarters of Change, had announced a Lollapalooza after-show at Lincoln Hall. Many performers will offer these concerts during the festival weekend at a low price ($28 dollars with fees this time!) and Lincoln Hall is right near campus, so it was a double win. Personally, this is one of my favorite venues; it is on the smaller side which means that you can easily be a few feet away from the performers!

Before the concert, there was one thing I had in mind to make the night perfect: grabbing some Allende tacos. This is the DePaul classic late-night food, and for good reason. These tacos are to die for. We all got an order of carne asada, chips and guac, and a quesadilla. It was truly unbeatable and helped to kickstart the energy of the night. I remember coming here my first week at DePaul and it has been my favorite spot since.

After ample refreshments, we were ready to see Quarters of Change live! My friends and I lined up outside, waiting in the alley. To our luck, we got to say hi to the band outside before, which was absolutely crazy! Finally, it was time to head inside. We hustled directly to the front of the stage and camped out there until the show started. I was so close I could’ve touched the speakers.

The concert was absolutely incredible. The opener, Ava Maybe, was awesome, and matched the energy of QOC to a tee. When Quarters of Change finally got on stage, they did not disappoint! We screamed along to every song and the crowd was magnetic. They were jumping and dancing with the best vibes. This had to be one of my favorite concerts yet!

After-shows are a great way to experience different artists without having to deal with the crowds of a festival (if that isn’t your thing- if so, go for it!) and at a low price too. I definitely recommend checking out the after-show lineup every summer and taking a chance on a new artist! And even if there is not an after-show you can make, going to any concert at Lincoln Hall is a must. It is in a perfect location in Lincoln Park and has great energy- overall, it’s definitely the place to be!
