Blue Demon Discounts: AMC
One thing to know about me is that I LOVE a good discount- so when I found out that DePaul offers discounts to students, I took full advantage. Many local businesses will give discounts such as 10-20% off a purchase if you show off your student ID which I always have on hand, so it was an easy opportunity. However, DePaul University has also made connections with larger companies to help students have fun in the city on a budget. This includes movie tickets with AMC! I just head over to the Student center and pick up tickets to any show for $10.
I am a big movie fan so having access to discounted tickets has allowed me to go to a theater almost every month! It is a great way to relax after class, on the weekend, and you can try different theaters to explore the city. PS: Some AMCs here have heated reclining seats- wild!
This past week, I went to see Abigail at AMC River East. The spring weather was beautiful so we were able to walk along the river and enjoy the downtown scenery for a while before we headed to the theater. I got a little something sweet from the Whole Foods next door and grabbed some popcorn inside- which by far is my favorite movie-watching tradition.
I am a big horror fan and I definitely enjoyed Abigail. It was gory, shocking, and full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall, I definitely recommend watching Abigail– and if you are a DePaul student right now, grab some discounted student tickets! It made for a perfect weekend journey,
If for some reason AMC is not your jam, some local theaters offer student discounts as well. Landmark theater in Lakeview East has discounted matinees and 15% for students with an ID if you sign up for their rewards program. Chicago has a lot of theater options so you really cannot go wrong!
