A Week in a Business Major’s Shoes

Being a college student means having a busy week. With classes, club meetings, jobs and everything in between, life is hectic. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world. There’s always so much to do and I want to do it all. Especially in the first couple weeks, there are so many welcome back events you can’t even imagine. Here is a peek into a week in a business major’s shoes.

First up was attending the Coleman Entrepreneur Center’s Welcome Back Market. I sold my stationery at it, and it is one of my favorite events each year.  I think finding your niche is so important. As an entrepreneurship major, I of course gravitate towards the Coleman Entrepreneur Center (CEC). So on a week by week basis you can find me there 2-3 days just chilling. While I may be impartial to the CEC, I think every department  hosts great events. I think it’s so important to regularly stop by your major’s department or any center that interests you. It helps build repertoire with them and you may be able to get a little free candy.

A trifold display board for the DePaul CEO (Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization) features information about speakers, competitions, networking events, and upcoming meetings.

Another big part of my week is running DePaul’s CEO Club, or better known as the Entrepreneur Club. As the President, I am coordinating a lot week in and week out. From tabling events, which are a great way for students to learn about us, to hosting our first club meeting of the year this week.

The last, but arguably one of the better parts of the week, is the Driehaus open house! This is where all the business departments get together and talk about all the upcoming things they have planned. It’s like an involvement fair for business majors! Food, raffles, and meeting new people. It’s definitely a not miss event, even as a senior.

Sprinkle in classes and that’s more or less a week in a business major’s shoes. But it’s not all work or business focus. You can be sure I stopped at Lincoln Park and did the spiral art and got a free Kona Ice. So I may be biased, but I think being a business major is the best out there.
