The best part about living in Chicago: Concerts -xoTani

As a college student, my priority was purely the experience I was going to get over the quality of the seats. By getting the cheapest ticket I could get, worth $45, I was incredibly excited and all set for the night.
The actual experience was amazing. Hearing Travis’ amazing songs and singing my heart out to some of his evergreen hits and classics was something I will never forget. Dare I say, it was one of my favourite nights during my freshman year.
Anyone in my personal life will be able to tell you that one of my other favourite artists is The Weeknd. With his new and latest amazing album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, I was looking forward to when the concert details and dates would drop. And soon after, there they were. May 31st, Day 2, was when one of my friends was going to the concert, and it was another one of those times I was thinking about how this is a key moment I am not going to miss out on.

Then came the man of the night – The Weeknd. What followed was a night filled with memories, fireworks and flame throwers, which illuminated the dark night and made everything that much more exciting. As one of my favourite artists performed while the Chicago downtown glistened in the background. This is a view which I will not be able to forget for a long, long time.
It makes my heart swell that this was simply possible because of the fact that I am living in one of the largest cities in the world: Chicago. It allowed me to have such wonderful experiences and have a chance to meet artists whom I have cherished for a long period of time.
With such a brilliant last two concert experiences, I am looking forward to attending a “Brent Faiyaz” concert in the future. Who knows, maybe Travis Scott will make a guest appearance there, too 😉

Learn More about Student Life at DePaul!
Coming from India as an International student meant that I was previously either too young or had no interesting concerts to attend back home. After moving to Chicago for college at DePaul University, however, the concept of a concert had almost skipped my mind as a whole until some of my friends attended the Lil Uzi Vert Concert during the first quarter of my freshman year. That is when this fun event came back on my radar.
During my second quarter, I knew that my favourite artist of all time – Travis Scott – was going to be performing in Chicago. It was amazing that it was for one of the best albums made by him: Utopia.
Quickly, I started to look at tickets; however, as someone who was new to Chicago, I was very unsure whether I should go or not. The very day of the concert, I suddenly was very adamant- I had to go see this man perform whom I’ve religiously listened to for the past half a decade! And that was that, after checking the prices online, my friend and I decided to avoid all the service fees by visiting the United Centre and getting our tickets in person. Thanks to the fact that being a DePaul University student gives you access to the Ventra pass, we were able to go there really easily.

I was really excited as not only was this The Weeknd’s last concert ever in Chicago, but PlayBoi Carti was going to be performing as well. With the latter’s awesome latest “I Am Music” drop, I was waiting to hear hits such as “Evil Jordan” in person.
The day came, and my friends and I were clad in our all black outfits, ready to enjoy a night filled with music and warm yet crisp spring air at Soldier Field. We decided to drive there and got to our seats just in time for PlayBoi Carti to start his set. What surprised me the most was the surprise guest he brought on the stage to perform with him – Travis Scott. I was blown away. What were the odds that at the second show I went to, I would get to see my favourite artist perform as well? They performed hits such as “Crush” and “FE!N” together, and I was hyped to say the least.
