Today I went to the Museum:

A Top 5 Guide to Free Museum, Art and Discounts

for DePaul Students

Sometimes when midterms are happening, you just need some “vibes”. For me, I love visiting art museums and other creative outlets of expression. There is something reinvigorating and powerful in seeing a curated collection of artists’ work. Whenever I’m in need of something to ground me and allow me to detach a bit, I love visiting museums, attractions or other places to see art (like the movies, of course). Did I mention they are FREE or discounted for all DePaul students?

1. AMC Theatre Tickets

Sure, the long-awaited sequel to the smash blockbuster (*cough cough* Joker: Folie à Deux) you are excited about has reviews that may seem like a waste… but with the DePaul discount I often say, “why not?” AMC theatres offers $10 tickets to DePaul students and staff. You can pick them up at your student center and thank yourself for not paying full price for snoozefest sequel.

Information: Visit either the Lincoln Park or Loop Student Centers to purchase tickets.

2. Art Institute of Chicago

I find myself admiring beauty in everything from nature-made to man-made. The Art Institutes collection of art ranging from fine historical pieces to more modern art gives me a great place to go when I need a break from studies while actively learning. They offer Free entry with a valid DePaul ID which means you don’t have to wait for Tuesdays or Thursdays (if Illinois resident) for free entry.

Information: Show your DePaul Student ID when checking into the museum.

3. BIBIBOP

Hungry before a day of adventuring? Bibibop, conveniently located next to DePaul’s Loop campus, offers a free drink with every bowl. It’s a healthy meal option that’s quick to pick up, and the Chipotle-style ordering setup is super intuitive—perfect if you’re new to this type of cuisine (new foods are always worth a try!). It’s light yet filling, especially when you add all the veggie options. They also offer great options for students with dietary restrictions.

Information: Show your DePaul Student ID before paying for you order.

4. Chicago Sky WNBA

If you’re one of “Reese’s Pieces”, AKA a fan of Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese, who is one of the WNBA’s star rookie players, then this discount is made just for you. The WNBA offers DePaul students, Faculty and Alum up to a 33% off discount on tickets. Purchase tickets early and you may secure a game to see Caitlin Clark (playing on Indiana’s team).

Information: DePaul staff, faculty, students, and alums can use code ‘DEPAUL‘ at checkout

5. Chicago History Museum

As a “born and raised” Chicago DePaul student, I supportively offer correct historical context (while undeniably cringing) to many things I hear from out-of-state students. I think learning about Chicago’s rich history and diverse cultural backgrounds is one of the most important things a First-Year or Transfer student can do. Where better than the Chicago History Museum? It’s free!

Information:DePaul students, faculty and staff have the benefit of Free General Admission by presenting a current DePaul ID.
