The Loop versus Lincoln Park Library at DePaul

Now going to a school with 2 campuses means that you get 2 libraries. Especially as a business student, I have spent my fair share of time in the Loop and Lincoln Park Libraries! From layout to vibes, they are different, but are both great places to work and study.

If you are thinking of a classic library then the Lincoln Park campus is your spot. The John T. Richardson Library has 4 floors, lots of chairs, rooms and books. Each floor gets quieter as you go up, which is pretty standard. I love this library, first off because they get so much natural light. Second, you can really spread out, from the comfy chairs on the first floor, to more than enough conference rooms that make the perfect study room.

While the Loop’s library is a lot smaller, it still has that cozy feel to it. But one thing to keep in mind is that it is only one floor, so it can be hard at times to find absolute quiet. Luckily there are definitely spots in the Loop Campus for that. However, the library is still a great place to work with a group. There is a lot of table space. Also this library is super convenient, because it’s usually only a few floors away from your next class. When I have a few minutes to kill, I spend time in this library.

Both libraries have all the good stuff, like computers, printers, books and more. Along with that both campuses have solo booths, which are like little sound proof cubicles. They are absolutely perfect if you have a Zoom interview, or an online exam.

Overall both places have great communal spaces. You really can’t go wrong on either one that you choose. Both are great to lock in while studying and in my opinion are pretty beautiful. I definitely suggest checking out both!
