General Summary:
The College of Education, Education and Counseling Center “ECC” is seeking a Graduate Assistant for spring quarter. The ECC provides tutoring, counseling, and reading intervention programs serving students in the Chicago area. The Graduate Assistant interfaces with the College of Education faculty, graduate students, and DePaul undergraduate students who provide the services, and students and families receiving services.
The Graduate Assistant will work under the direction of the Senior Program Manager of the ECC.
Principle Duties, Responsibilities, and Other Job-Related Information:
- Program management, including running a Saturday program for youth, recruiting additional youth, and designing a summer program. Promoting the program to local schools, making presentations, and interfacing with parents and youth to manage all aspects of the recruiting process.
- Working with the Office of Compliance to ensure all programs in the ECC remain in compliance.
- Front Desk coverage and overseeing the general operating tasks to run the ECC.
- Collaborating with other GA’s and ECC staff to complete ECC projects as needed.
Position Requirements (Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required):
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with limited supervision after initial instructions are critical to the role, as is a patient, positive and professional demeanor appropriate to an office environment.
- Excellent program management and proven track record of working successfully with youth.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to handle confidential information and exercise discretion
Position Qualifications (Minimum level of education and/or experience needed to be successful in the position):
- Experience working with the public, particularly with youth.
Hour requirements/schedule:
- Typical schedule: 20 hours per week for 200 hours spring quarter.
