Spring Quarter 2025 Student Teaching & Internships Scholarship Now Open!

The College of Education Spring Quarter 2025 Student Teaching & Internships Scholarship opened today, Monday, March 24. The opportunity will be open from 3/24-4/13. This application is identical to the one from this past winter and fall quarters.

Any students who are currently doing their practicum or internship experience DURING Spring Quarter 2025 are eligible for this scholarship. Counseling interns are only eligible to be awarded during one quarter of their practicum and internship – they will not be awarded more than once even if they apply more than once.

This award is offered to College of Education students who are currently participating in their capstone clinical experience – student teaching, counseling internship, or another field-based capstone. Counseling interns may only receive this scholarship for one academic quarter of their internship. The maximum award amount is $3,000 and the minimum award is $350. Students will be awarded within that range. To be considered, you must submit your application by Sunday, April 13, 2025 11:59 PM.

My name is Sahar Sheikh, and I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Toledo. I am conducting a dissertation study titled Validation of Multidimensional Assessment of Racial Colorblindness (MARC)?” This study will validate the instrument “Multidimensional Assessment of Racial Colorblindness (MARC)” to determine whether colorblindness is a unidimensional or multidimensional construct in counselor education.

Prospective Participants Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in CACREP accredited graduate counseling program
  • Must be at least 18 years or above
  • Must be enrolled in any of the following counseling programs: Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Addiction Counseling, Career Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Community Counseling, College Counseling and Student Affairs, Gerontological Counseling and Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling

 

What to expect: Participation in this study is voluntary, and participants can withdraw at any point along the way without any consequences. Participants will participate in a 15–20-minute survey consisting of a demographic questionnaire and 45- item survey.

Job Opportunity – inSTEM

inSTEM has been a part of DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus for over 13 years, providing middle school students with engaging, inquiry-based STEM experiences through hands-on activities and mentorship. The program was founded by Dr. Nell Cobb and is deeply connected to the Algebra Project and Young People’s Project. One of our key activities includes preparing students for the Flagway Tournament, a fun, movement-based math game that helps students build a strong foundation in number theory.

They are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • Math Literacy Workers (MLWs) – High school students
  • College Math Literacy Workers (CMLWs) – DePaul and other college students
  • Instructor for inSTEM – To lead and support the program

The spring program will begin in March for training purposes, with the official camp starting in April. Specific dates will be shared with applicants during the hiring process. The program runs for two weeks during the summer, with a commitment to work on Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM.

CMHC Internship Opportunity – Family Counseling Service

 

Family Counseling Service in Aurora is currently accepting internship applications for the 25-26 year and is actively interviewing at this time. Please note, they are willing to be flexible when it comes to the schedule of the internship during the year to align more with DePaul’s academic calendar. However, there may be some training over the summer.

Below is an outline of their application process:

  1. Student can scan the QR code (in the attached flyer) or go to the FCS Website to apply online with a Resume and Cover Letter.
  2. Josh Zeller will contact the student and complete initial phone screen
  3. Josh will then send the student a link to schedule a teams meeting with their Clinical Internship Director
  4. Clinical internship Director will schedule the in person panel interview with the student
  5. If Student is offered the internship, they then request 3 letters of recommendation, Transcript, and Bachelors diploma
  6. Student is provided official offer letter once all documents are received.
    1. If all goes according to our schedule, students should know by mid-March for sure, but hopefully sooner
