The survey will close on June 2nd. Students who submit completed surveys will be entered into a raffle for one of ten $25 Amazon gift cards.

Thrive Counseling Center in Oak Park, IL currently has 2-3 internship openings for their Youth Internship Program for the 25-26 year. Schedule for youth interns: 

  • August 18th – 21st 9-5pm for intern training week
  • Evenings (until 8pm) and Saturdays (9-2)
  • Wed 1-3pm for group supervision and trainings
  • Tues 1-3pm for clinical meetings and trainings (optional)

2nd year Master’s students:

  • Bachelors in a mental health related field. 
  • Thrive Counseling Center Internships are a minimum of 9 months (typically from August – May), 24 hours/week.
  • Intern schedules are 40% direct clinical service, 60% indirect service, training, and supervision. This includes 1 hour/week of individual supervision with a licensed supervisor, 1 hour/week of group case consultation, and 2-4 hours of monthly clinical trainings.
  • Gain experience working with a diverse population of adults, couples, adolescents, families, and groups. All internships include out-patient therapy, some offer the opportunity to gain additional areas of specialty including crisis intervention, and working with youth.

Iroquois Mental Health Center in Kankakee, Watseka, and Manteno currently has an internship opening for the 25-26 year. The main office is in Watseka and they ask that interns come to this office for training prior to going to Kankakee or Manteno to see clients. They ask that students send a Cover letter, Resume, 3 letters of recommendation, and unofficial transcripts. Summer Seminar: Nurturing Intercultural Competence and Dialogue for Educators and Helping Professionals

Renowned international scholar, Dr. Marta Milani from the University of Verona, will be coming to DePaul this summer to host a summer seminar at the COE from July 8-11th. Attendees will receive CEUs and CDPUs. There are graduate student scholarships available as well. COMMENCEMENT PICKUP DAYS FOR STUDENTS GRADUATING IN JUNE

COE Commencement Pickup will be held Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4 10am – 6pm in the Lincoln Park Campus Student Center 120A&B. You must attend the day and time for your college because your reader card, tickets, and regalia will only be available at that campus. Attending both days is not necessary. Graduates should anticipate being at the event for about 30-45 minutes at the most. If you attended the Grad Fair in February, you still must attend commencement pickup to receive your reader card and tickets. Learn more about the event here.

Illinois LPC Licensure Application Process Walkthrough – Friday, May 23, 2025

The Office of Professional Practice will host a Zoom meeting to discuss the IL LPC application process on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. In addition, the following will be addressed: The difference between licensure and certification; The types of counseling licenses in Illinois; The general timeline of how long it can take to obtain licensure; What to do if you are seeking licensure in a state outside of Illinois; Taking the National Counseling Examination (NCE) before vs. after you graduate; & The costs involved in applying for licensure.
