In the past five years, The Couples Therapy Fellowship has often served as a stepping-stone to a full-time position at The Couples Clinic. In fact, we have accepted 22 fellows into our program and are proud to say that by the end of the current cycle, we will have hired nearly 80% upon completion of their fellowship! The remaining few have taken their fellowship experience and pursued endeavors such as PhD programs, becoming a Professor/Clinical Director in a Master’s Program, private practice and more! Couples Clinic therapists can earn up to six figures per year, doing the work that they love with an amazing team of colleagues who are like-minded in their commitment to excellence in couples’ therapy.
The Couples Clinic is home of a team of innovative therapists and researchers who have created Pragmatic/Experiential for Couples (PET-C), detailed in the books, Emotional Intelligence in Couples Therapy, and Developing Habits for Relationship Success. PET-C is scientifically based, drawing from recent advances in neurobiology and the science of intimate relationships.
We offer the following formats:

Both Fellowship options are designed to generate highly competent therapists who will 1) have an opportunity to fulfill the supervision and clinical contact hour requirements for full licensure in the state of Illinois, and 2) put themselves in a great position to receive offers to become full-time Clinic team members once the Fellowship has been completed if they demonstrate excellence during the Fellowship.
We will begin reviewing applications on January 15, 2025, and begin interviewing applicants in early February. The two-year fellowships typically begin July 1st each year with some flexibility if needed. (If you already have your full license, you may be eligible to start a one-year fellowship sooner).
