Maine East High School is currently searching for school counseling interns. With over 1,900 students and a diverse student body, roughly 30% white, 30% Asian, 30% Latinx, 6% Black, 4% two or more races and 50+ languages spoken, Maine East High School is a community that embraces and celebrates our diverse student population.
We are a RAMP certified counseling department with 7 general counselors and 1 post-secondary counselor. In accordance with the ASCA national model, our counselors have approximately 270 students on their caseload and they meet the academic, social-emotional and post high school needs of all of our students. In addition, our counselors facilitate lessons, run groups, conduct risk assessments, run the course selection process, and operate within an MTSS model to review data and identify students for appropriate interventions. We are confident our comprehensive school counseling program can provide a well-rounded experience in a diverse and academically challenging environment with an extensive list of opportunities to conduct a closing the gap project.
You are welcome to check out our school profile and link to our Student and Family Services website. We are looking to hire one intern for the 25-26 academic year and will begin our intern interview process in early December. Please note that our counselors do not work over the summer so we can only offer the practicum and internship supervision between August – May. If anyone is interested in applying, please send a resume and letter of interest to cfuerte@maine207.org.
