Internship Opportunity- Communities In Schools of Chicago

Communities In Schools of Chicago is currently planning group interviews as a part of their 24-25 internship application process. This is a CMHC internship opportunity for students interns especially interested in learning about Social Emotional Learning and Integrated Student Supports in schools.

Interested students should send a current resume, cover letter, and letter of interest to Paul Fagen at pfagen@cisofchicago.org. In the letter of interest students should highlight: their interest in the work of Communities In Schools of Chicago, why they want to train with the organization, and what they hope to learn. Someone from Communities In Schools of Chicago will follow up with candidates directly to confirm their attendance at the group interview. Interested students should apply ASAP.

After they receive these application materials, they are scheduling their candidate group interviews for Wednesday morning, March 6 from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon.  This will take place at their central office at 815 W. Van Buren Street, Suite 300, Chicago, IL  60607. As in years past, they will use this time to introduce their work and the role of the intern, engage in activities that include case reviews and group discussions, explain next steps, and answer any questions that candidates may have.

During this week you have the opportunity to interview with employers focusing on the Education industry. All interviews are scheduled through Handshake, which saves a lot of time and energy.  Through this system, you can electronically input your resumes and communicate with recruiters.

  • Register Now! Spots Filling Up Fast for First Annual First Gen Symposium – The event will take place at North Central College on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (CT). Please visit the First Gen Symposium page to register and for more information on the conference including the invitation to submit a session proposal (deadline to submit a proposal is February 9) and to feature professionals who were first-generation students.

 

  • New Rural Illinois CTE Education Project – The Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS), in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), has signed an intergovernmental agreement to support schools in providing a high-level, comprehensive needs assessment and equity gap analysis of career and technical education (CTE) programs in rural districts. In this new project, AIRSS will support schools in providing a high-level comprehensive needs assessment and equity gap analysis of CTE programs in rural districts. The goal for this work is to help rural schools communicate the difficulties of building CTE pathways and complete asset mapping assessment of current programming and resources. Learn more about this project here.

Service Day with Vincent!

Join us for “Service Day with Vincent” available to all DePaul faculty and staff!  Deepen your connection with our Vincentian mission and spend meaningful time with DePaul colleagues as together we learn and serve at some of our most dynamic Chicago community partners.   Our day begins with a light breakfast and kick off then we head out to spend time at our sites. These will include engaging with migrants, working at a food pantry and serving alongside people with developmental disabilities.  After service, we will return to campus for lunch and shared reflection.  Join us for this unique opportunity to experience DePaul and Chicago at their very best.

Internship Opportunity- DePaul Family and Community Services

DePaul Family and Community Services is currently accepting applications for the 24-25 year. While they are interviewing on a rolling basis, they will be making offers by the end of February. Interested students should submit their application before the end of February to be considered.

Summer Camp Internship Opportunities – 4H Camp

4-H Summer Camp takes place at Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton, South Carolina on Lake Marion. Staff will report to camp in mid-May and work until early August. Counselors will be working with youth ranging in age from 8-14. 4-H Activities include:

  • Swimming, canoeing, tubing and fishing
  • Paintball, archery, ropes course and climbing tower
  • Nature hikes and team sports
  • Arts, crafts, dance and talent show
  • Nightly skits and games
