College Counseling Pre-Conference for New School Counselors

The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling is hosting a Pre-Conference for School Counselors on April 25, 2023 from 9AM – 4PM at Illinois College.

According to the event page, “This professional development opportunity is designed for school counselors with zero to three years of school counseling experience or in a new role assisting students and their families in the college search and application process; graduate students in school counseling programs are also welcome!”.

The registration fees are: $75 for IACAC members, $100 for non-members, and $25 for current school counseling graduate students. Preference will be given to school counselors currently working in high schools and graduate students who will be doing their practicum/internship in the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 school years.

Provide professional counseling and therapeutic services to assess, diagnose and treat mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Graduate interns identify training goals to meet academic requirements or for program completion. Associate (post-graduate) therapists work with a supervisor to outline training goals including certification completion or meeting licensure requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have or currently be in pursuit of a Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology or other psychology field with related coursework in clinical issues as defined by the DSM-V.
  • Must have availability to attain and maintain a caseload that supports continuity of care and engagement in weekly supervision.
  • Must commit to a minimum service period to maintain ethical, quality care.
  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to adhere to all standards of practice outlined by the APA, Illinois State Licensing Board, and other professionally relevant psychological bodies under the direction of the supervising clinician.

Compensation

Graduate interns receive academic credit. Pre-licensed therapists are compensated according to a revenue percentage split.

Chi Sigma Lota at DePaul is Hosting a National Counselor Exam Virtual Meetup!

National Counselor Exam (NCE) Virtual Meetup

 

The Delta Phi Upsilon chapter of Chi Sigma Iota will be offering a virtual National Counselor Examination (NCE) Meet Up this Sunday (3/12) for Counseling Internship students who are planning to take the NCE later this year. 

 

Recent test takers will be there to share their tips and to answer your questions! A student-created test prep resource guide will be provided to all registrants post-event.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY- DePaul University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCAPS)

DePaul University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCAPS) is currently accepting internship applications for the 23-24 year. Interested students should email Orson Morrison at OMORRISO@depaul.edu by March 5th, 2023 with the following materials:

  • A cover letter which includes their interest in training in a university counseling center and any relevant professional/training related experiences.
  • A resume or CV
  • 2 professional reference letters which can speak to the student’s work ethic, team-work competencies, cross-cultural competencies, ability to take feedback, and any other relevant professional skills.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The UCAPS Internship is for full-time students only (Note:  We want students who have completed clinical course work).
  • Students who have been current or previous clients of UCAPS are not eligible for internship. (Note:  prevent multiple roles conflicts).

National Counselor Examination (NCE) Prep Survey

The Chi Sigma Iota Delta Phi Upsilon chapter leaders are surveying third year counseling students about what support, if any, would be helpful as they prepare to take the National Counselor Examination (NCE) later this year. (Please view this NCE Survey Flyer for more information)
