The Lower School Readiness Assessor, in collaboration with the Lower School Associate Director of Enrollment Management, will assess the readiness of applicants for admission to the Lower School of Latin School of Chicago.
- This is a part-time (mornings only), six-month per year position from approximately October through March each year (excluding school breaks).
- This position requires frequent local travel during the working period.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-to-one readiness assessments with children between the ages of 3 and 9 applying to Latin’s Lower School (Junior Kindergarten through 4th Grade)
- Compile assessment summaries for the consideration of Latin’s lower school admissions committee
- Provide feedback on assessment performance to the parents/guardians of lower school applicants
- Schedule and conduct child observations at preschools, nursery schools and elementary schools across the Chicagoland area
- Assist the Lower School Associate Director of Enrollment Management with the JK-4 application process as needed
- Review all lower school applications and serve on the lower school admissions committee
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or doctoral training with an early childhood or child development focus preferred.
- Admissions/enrollment management experience preferably in the independent school sector
- Experience working with young children and families, ideally in a school environment
- Ability to administer developmental assessments to early childhood and elementary-aged children
- Experience administering the WPPSI or WISC assessments or other evaluative tools
- Ability to handle highly confidential admission and assessment materials effectively and with appropriate care
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Energy, enthusiasm, friendliness and a sense of humor
- Very good computer proficiency, ideally with experience using enrollment management databases
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
- Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland to other educational institutions
