Queering the Spiritual Life Events

These events will be led by Shannon TL Kearns, priest, playwright, transgender man, and theologian, and queer relationship coach, Brian Murphy.  Shannon and Brian run QueerTheology.com, a site to support the spirituality of queer Christians, but their DePaul events will be open to all worldviews and faith/non-faith perspectives.  They are engaging presenters happy to explore how sexuality and gender identities holistically enrich one’s life.

These programs are co-sponsored by Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity, The Theatre School, and the Division of Mission and Ministry.

Participate in a Research Study!

Participants are needed for a research student of counselors-in-training and recently graduated counselors. Please see the message below from the researcher for more information:

Dear counselors-in-training,

My name is Hsin-Ya Tang and I am a faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Educational Studies at Johns Hopkins University. I am writing to request your participation in my research study. I will be exploring the lived experiences of counselors-in-training (CIT) and recent graduated counselors addressing anti-Asian racism with Asian and Asian American (A/AA) clients. The results of this study may be used to support counselor educators to train CITs to effectively work with A/AA clients. Very little research has been done in this area, so I hope that my study will contribute useful insights to the profession and will be enlightening to counselor educators. I would appreciate if you would consider agreeing to be a participant for my study.

In order to be considered a participant for the purposes of this study, you must meet all of the following three criteria:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are currently enrolled in internship in a CACREP master’s or doctoral counseling program or you have graduated from a CACREP program within the past 12 months
  • You have provided counseling for A/AA clients experiencing anti-Asian racism.

I am planning to interview each participant once via Zoom. If you agree to participate in this study, the time commitment required will be approximately 45-60 minutes for an interview. The confidential interviews will be conducted at a time of your choosing and will be audio recorded.

If you have any questions and/or if you are willing to take part in this study, please contact me at htang30@jhu.edu to schedule your interview.
