Fall Forum on Teaching and Learning

Please join us for this year’s Fall Forum on Teaching and Learning to the College of Education graduate students and education majors. This year’s theme is on Inclusive Teaching through Active Learning. Details listed below:

How can we make our classrooms more equitable? With the rampant inequity in society, is that even possible? Take one step closer to making an equitable classroom a reality by attending our Fall Forum 2022, where award-winning instructors Dr. Kelly Hogan and Dr. Viji Sathy will be teaching techniques on adding structure that is crucial to equity in the classroom. Opening Counseling Positions

Safe Passage is the domestic violence and rape crisis center serving Dekalb County.  Currently they have the following positions open for Master’s level clinicians:

Adult domestic violence counselor (2 full-time positions)

Children’s domestic violence counselor

Sexual assault counselor (all ages—1 full-time positions)

Safe Passage are also always looking for Master’s level counseling interns as well.

Join the Illinois School Counselor Association for free and attend their upcoming meeting

School counseling graduate students can join the Illinois School Counselor Association for FREE! ISCA is the Illinois division of the American School Counselor Association and has more than 1200 members across the state. Students can sign up here: Join ISCA (wildapricot.org).

Welcome Back Picnic

On Sund​ay October 2nd from 2 pm-5 pm the Delta Phi Upsilon chapter of Chi Sigma Iota will be hosting a Welcome Back Picnic for all DePaul Counseling students and faculty. The event will take place at St. Vincent’s Circle (adjacent to The Quad and beside Richardson Library). Please feel free to come at your leisure to enjoy a picnic with music, games, and food! This event is intended to create a community within the counseling program.

CACREP and CSI Co-Sponsored Leadership Essay Contest

For this year’s Leadership Essay Contest, you will be asked to view three Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) webinars that focus on how legislation can impact counselor identity. Once completed you should consider the issues addressed in the webinars or search for legislation relevant to professional counselor identity and then respond to these three prompts:

  • What are some key indicators of professional counselor identity?
  • What national, state, or local legislation has or could potentially impact professional counselor identity in your state or area, and in what way might it do so?
  • In what ways have you or could you advocate with regards to professional counselor identity specifically in relation to the legislation you mentioned?
