Two Counseling Job Opportunities

The Heartland chapter of iaedp (International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals) is seeking student volunteers! This is an excellent way to build connections in the field and learn more about the treatment of eating disorders. Student volunteers get to attend events for free. More information can be found on the chapter website, heartlandiaedp.com or by emailing our Student Liaison, Erin Terada at erin.terada@gmail.com

Center for Discovery is hiring! PRN, part-time, and full time positions are available to serve as a Counselor (direct floor staff/technician) position at our residential eating disorder treatment programs in Glenview and Chicago (Rogers Park), treatment adolescents and adults, respectively. This is a great opportunity for DePaul students to gain additional experience in the field. For more info, reach out to Kathleen O’Connor (kathleen.oconnor@centerfordiscovery.com) or find job descriptions for available positions at centerfordiscovery.com

2021 ISCA Conference

Hello Illinois School Counselors,

The Illinois School Counselor Association (ISCA) is excited to announce the 2021 ISCA Conference will be November 1-2, 2021 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. We are currently accepting proposals to present a breakout session at the conference. The deadline to submit is less than a month away, May 15. Follow this link to submit a proposal today.

We are delighted to be planning an in-person conference again and hope you will join us for this annual opportunity for some great professional development and networking with other school counselors from across the state. And don’t worry, if we need to transition into a hybrid event, or fully virtual (like last year), ISCA is ready! So, don’t delay, because you can already register today!

GLSEN Day of Silence

Day of Silence

Today, Friday April 23 is the GLSEN Day of Silence.

Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ+ students and allies around the country take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination on LGBTQ+ people in schools.

This moment in time is a poignant reminder of why we observe Day of Silence. Across the country, a myriad of anti-transgender bills are being considered in state legislatures. According to the Human Rights Campaign, 117 anti-trans bills have been introduced, 65 of which target trans youth.

We can support our communities with intentional silence today and action.

PHIMC staff and Alliance Youth Committee members share why they participate in Day of Silence and how they plan to break their silence this year.

Now for the fun part: Night of Noise: We’re Still Connected is an opportunity for us to break the silence together while raising funds to support LGBTQ+ young people.

Will you join us?

We’ll see you online this Sunday, April 25 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm.

Please contact Danny Whalen if you have any questions about this event or want to debate which brand of sparkling water really is the best!
